About the Wendts Bob grew up in a mobile military family in the Unites States and Germany. Jane grew up in Detroit. Both attended Anderson University in Indiana with Christian service as their ultimate goals. After graduation, Bob worked for Madison County Juvenile Probation and Jane worked as a writer/editor in product development for a church publishing house. They married in 1985 and moved from Indiana to Pennsylvania where Bob pursued a Master's Degree in Biblical Counseling. After finishing his degree, he began a 15-year career in full-time pastoral counseling with the Christian Counseling Center of Bucks County (PA). Jane worked in marketing communications for two manufacturers before starting a second career as a home- schooling mother, writing tutor and teacher when their son Daniel started first grade in 1997. In the summer of 1999, Bob and Jane responded to God's leading in their hearts by beginning to pursue the possibility of full-time missionary service. They prayerfully looked for an opportunity to serve overseas. Short-term trips further confirmed their vision of becoming directly involved in cross-cultural church planting work. Bob and Jane's experience with families, children, young adults and people in crisis has given them a great passion for the work of church planters, teachers and health workers serving in remote, isolated areas across Alaska.
